Many of us have a tendency to prioritize the needs of others above our own. We may tell ourselves stories, such as “they care about me” or “they’re always there for me,” as a way to justify this behavior. However, it’s important to remember that taking care of our own needs is just as important as supporting others.

By recognizing this, we can strive to find a healthy balance between caring for ourselves and those around us. When you neglect to keep unhealthy attachments, you become a victim of unhealthy boundary fatigue.

Living with unhealthy boundaries can be mentally exhausting and can make it challenging to maintain or establish healthy boundaries. This exhaustion weakens our mental strength and makes it difficult to enforce boundaries, leaving us vulnerable to the demands of others while neglecting our own needs. It’s similar to how a muscle gets tired after exercising; our mental strength weakens after consistent unhealthy use.
