I was watching iJustine play her new Fortnite game, “Creative Map Robot Ranch”! The more she failed, the worse she got at expressing her frustration. She told herself, “Be Better.” It was hilarious to hear her frustration with herself and simultaneously encouraging herself to be better. I think we all get caught in this in-between place. We get caught where we are frustrated with ourselves but encourage ourselves simultaneously. It was eye-opening to see this happen in real-time.

Watching iJustine navigate through the challenges of the game, I couldn’t help but relate to her struggles. It reminded me of when I’ve faced setbacks and felt like I was failing. In those moments, it’s easy to get caught up in negative self-talk and doubt our capabilities.

But what struck me the most was iJustin’s ability to encourage herself to improve. Despite her frustration with herself, she never gave up. Instead, she used her failures as fuel to push herself further. It was a powerful reminder that growth and improvement often come from embracing and learning from our mistakes. Not to mention, they can often happen simultaneously.

I realize that this in-between place of frustration and self-encouragement is where true growth happens. It’s a space where we acknowledge our shortcomings and push ourselves to overcome them. It’s a reminder that progress is not always linear and that setbacks are just stepping stones towards success.

Witnessing iJustine’s journey in real-time was truly eye-opening. It made me reflect on my approach to challenges and better ways to navigate the in-between. Instead of letting frustration consume me, I now strive to channel it into motivation, just like iJustine did.

So, the next time I find myself caught in the in-between, I will remember iJustine’s words: “Be Better.” I will embrace my frustrations, learn from my failures, and use them as catalysts for growth. Because in the end, it’s not about how many times we fall but how many times we rise and become better versions of ourselves.
