Mommy, can I say freak? No! Why do all my friends say freak? Why can’t I say freak? Cause it’s wrong? When your friends do it, does that make it right?

Mommy sighed, trying to find the right words to explain the situation to her child. “Sweetheart, just because your friends say something doesn’t automatically make it right. Sometimes, people use words that may not be inappropriate or disrespectful. As parents, it’s our responsibility to guide you and teach you what is right and wrong.”

The child looked confused, still not fully understanding. “But why is saying ‘freak’ wrong, Mommy? I hear it all the time.”

Mommy gently knelt to the child’s level, ensuring they understood. “Using the word ‘freak’ to describe someone can be hurtful and disrespectful. It’s important to treat others with kindness and empathy. Words have power, and they can either uplift or hurt someone’s feelings. We should always strive to use words that make others feel good about themselves.”

The child pondered for a moment, absorbing the explanation. “So, even if my friends say it, I shouldn’t use that word?”

Mommy smiled, proud of her child’s understanding. “Exactly, my love. It’s important to stand up for what we believe is right, even if others around us may not understand. We should always choose our words carefully and treat others respectfully, just as we would like to be treated.”

The child nodded, realizing the significance of her mother’s words. “I understand now, Mommy. I won’t say ‘freak’ anymore. I want to be kind to others.”

Mommy hugged her child tightly, grateful for the opportunity to teach such an important lesson. “I’m proud of you, sweetheart. Remember, kindness and respect will always lead you down the right path. And if you ever have any questions about words or anything else, you can always come to me. I’m here to help you learn and grow.”

With a newfound understanding, the child smiled, empowered to make a positive difference in her life. And from that day forward, she chose her words carefully, spreading kindness and empathy wherever she went.
